Devlog 1 - Portraits & Battle Animations
Hey!
It's been about a week since I released the demo and I have 185 downloads so far! Not bad, not bad! While that's been out for people to play, I've continued to be hard at work. There isn't actually MUCH to show because a lot of it was behind the scenes work. Animations and Action Sequences are definitely NOT my forte, but I hope once you guys get to playing the whole thing, they're at least acceptable at sprucing up the battles. I don't think they're shabby, at any rate.
Back when I first started this project, I made all the party portraits (and some of the NPC ones) before realizing the way I was doing them was too aggravating. It was one of the reasons I took a break to make Morning Star because I wanted to try a new portrait style. It ended up looking nice so I tried Snowe in that style and went "well, guess I'm remaking my portraits". I think they are definitely turning out better for sure.
This week I've been able to get Astra's portrait all redone and slotted into the game!
Look at them! They're ready for adventure!
Otherwise, that's about it! Compiling animations is the bane of my existence and I have a lot to go. I'm going to take a break on them once all the party member have their skills (don't even talk to me about if they're balanced yet, I do that on the fly and hate everything) and get back to finishing up the Eastern Tower dungeon.
Until next time! I hope those who have played the demo have enjoyed it!
And don't forget, I have a twitter that I regularly tweet on with various things. Since SSP is a focus at the moment, you can expect in-progress stuff there on a more frequent basis if that's your thing!
